The Hobbit In the Works
I think we all saw it coming when Peter Jackson announced in an interview that he would be directing “The Hobbit”. With the publication of his 100 million dollar lawsuit with New Line Cinema over his share of the DVD sales, I can only imagine there will be delays. He has stated that he does not expect to begin filming for another 4 years as that he has other projects in the works. For those of you who can’t wait that long, there is a discussion over the finished screenplay found here. Jeremy Milne www.critterville.net Labels: Entertainment and Film
Lost in Translation, The World Of Japanese Commercials
I’m sure most of these are lost in translation but I can’t help but wonder what makes people produce these commercials in Japan. For commercials click here.

Casshern
| Last night I watched a very off the wall movie called “Casshern”. It has some of the best effects I have ever seen. Kind of had an “Astroboy”, meets “Apocalypse Now”, meets “Frankenstein” concept to it. With affects equaling the “Matrix” movies or “Sky captain and the World of Tomorrow” and cinematography seeming almost like “3 Kings” it was visually startling. Like many Japanese movies of this fantasy genre, there were a few things I had to go out on a limb on. But if you’re looking for something very dark, and very unique on this side of the world, I would very much suggest seeing it. The twist is that it just came out in theatres in Japan and I have yet to find any word of any North American releases. Worse yet, I have yet to meet a person who has seen it. JOIN THE ARMY OF THE BLUE FROG
Recently I found this great little program for fighting spam that takes the battle to the spammers front. The best part is that it’s not a filter, but rather a more aggressive means. You give the company up to 3 of your email addresses. They approach web companies to ask they refrain from harassing these emails with a warning on their users behalf. Every time you get spam you send it to them. If they find that a spammer refuses to comply, the software on all the user’s machines begin to over load the spammer’s servers crippling it. So if you want to join the fight, please sign up. The more users, the better we can bring down these companies. Blue Security

Doin’ the Electric Techie Boogie with Sony
Alright boys n' girls, It's time to play Boycott Sony again! While at work, one of my employers came in and dropped a laptop on me. "It's getting too slow for me to work on, fix it with your techie voodoo magic" So I pulled out the antivirus tools and started to dance around the laptop to exercise it of its digital demons. Unfortunatly after an hour of head spinning and slime spitting, no demons were revealed. So I finally got out the bigger guns, (that is RootKitRevealer) and started a spanish inquisition against my employer.... and finally, Results! RKR found a very suspicious aries.sys, and my empolyer had been running a few new music CD's before problems started cropping up. I scryed with my magic Google ball, and my mind was filled with horrors bearing the logos of SONY. Its legions of possessed machines danced through my mind, laughing and jeering... Yes, my friends, the new Sony copy-protect cds now install Rootkits on your system to stop you from copying their cds. It's in there once your machine autoruns it... and getting rid of it... well... *muffles the laptop with a pillow until its already dim power light flatlines and extinguishes* Article brought to you by SysInternals! Along with a nifty dissaembly! George Wang
