What now Disney?
As many of you know, Pixar was bought by Disney for a whopping 7.4 billion dollars. I’m trying to figure out if this a good thing for animation or not. The last few years Disney has ad a bad habit of selling out quality for quantity when it comes to its feature animation. They seem to have lost their ability to understand what’s needed for a good heart filled story. This is a hard thing for me to say being as huge a Disney fan as I am. Some might argue that Eisner is gone and Roy Disney is back into the fold, which should fix many of those issues, but I have yet to hear anything about the 2D feature film department reopening from any of the people I know that once worked there, which if I remember right, was one of Roy’s requests. We all knew that if Disney didn’t take hold of Pixar, it would eventually need to open up something in its place. The animation is needed for the company to evolve and expand; it’s hard to make new rides using old films. But with “Finding Nemo” having pulled in 800 million dollars and the lion King I’m sure in its billions, I hope that Disney recognizes that the film’s profit has direct coalitions to how well it’s written. I can only hope in that realization we can see more tradition animated films come out of Disney and that they maintain the story levels that Pixar has held.Click here for MSN's perspective on the Pixars puchase |

Words from a General in the Gnome Liberation Army
Several years back, in my less busy days, I was a veteran member of an exclusive club sometimes referred to as the "gnome liberation army". Our cause was to liberate gnomes and bring them on travels with us. Many people would later return the gnome with Polaroids of where they had been. I found it funny to repaint the gnomes like members of “KISS”. This has become more and more common place these days to the point where one might even call it a tradition. I would never encourage or tell somebody that they should try this, but if you must, let me give you some tips.- Always carry a set of bolt cutters and a strong screw driver with you as that many gnomes are chained and glued down - Do not use a flashlight; it will help them catch you more than it will help you find gnomes - Target neighborhoods with a retired community, they just seem to have more gnomes - Remember, this is for fun, if you think you might get caught, it's not worth it. - Beware Motion detectors, picket fences and dogs - Wear black clothes - Always have a driver with his headlights off standing by. I hope these tips help future members of the gnome liberation front. Below is an article found on this very subject. Click here to read up on another gnome hunter. |

SHATNER RAISES MONEY WITH KIDNEY STONE
It was announced Tuesday William Shatner sold a kidney stone he passed for 25,000 dollars. If anybody is interested I have some finger nail clippings and something I once hacked up during a cold that I’m more than happy to sell for a fraction of that price. Just a note for those who wonder who would buy a kidney stone for such a high price; it was a casino that displays celebrity oddities and the money went towards a charity to build homes for the needy.Labels: Entertainment and Film |
