Ollie Johnston Passed On...

Ollie Johnston, the last of the "Nine Old Men" of classic Disney Animators, passed away on Wednesday. Ollie started working with Disney doing in-between work on their animated shorts in 1935, and progressed along with the other eight into their now classic feature films. You can either check out his credit list at imdb.com, or you can just walk over to your shelf and look at every single Disney feature-length animated film you have that was produced before "The Little Mermaid". He worked on all of them.

Darwin Online

The complete works of Charles Darwin, a god among scientists and the bane of every irrational creationist existence, are finally available for anyone, anywhere, to read. And it only took 126 years and another scientific revolution to make it happen.

3 Laws iRobot Benches

The odd things you find in urban environments. The other day I sat down on a bench only to realize that Isaac Asimov's 3 laws were written on them as you carry down the street. I assume these are remnants from them filming “I Robot” here.

I have taken some snap shots, enjoy.

I miss my days in the circus

I’m frustrated with which the speed of my school is progressing, so hopefully the new job will work better for me. I've been putting off phoning the school for a while. I need to make an appointment to see what my new options are, now that my hours don’t jump around so much.

Things seem to be coming back together for me. When I arrived back here in Vancouver, I had a lot of trouble adjusting. In all honesty, I missed working for Disney. Sad to say, I was pretty content working under the iron white glove of mickey. I had a pretty cushy position that was the envy of most on board. I think it was my equivalent of running away and joining the circus. Hopefully, ill get a few more tastes of it in the next couple years. Considered returning for a summer before i complete my schooling.

Today I picked up some larger paper; I got sick of working on 8.5 x 11. Now I just need a larger scanner to match, does anybody recommend any cheap 11x17 models. I think it’s about time I start sharing my art with my blog reader.

Keep moving forward.

So I have left eBay. Though the people I worked with in the office were really good to me, the company itself left me feeling flustered. Seeing as how I don’t intend on using them as a reference, I can openly say I feel the company treat its employees and clients very badly, it seems that there is so much of a disconnect between those that do the real work, and those at head office, that they don’t realize how their policies effect people.

On a better note, I think I may have come to a point in my career where I can leave tech support and sales behind. Having been hired to work in entertainment again, I’m back in natural habitat.

I have also taken on a side job working for a small business. They design active wear for young children and I could not help but be interested in their process. For a long time, I have wanted to start a clothing line of my own, and I think this side work will help me fill in the gaps as to how. They seem to need somebody with many of my skills, and It’s a wonderful challenge to help market a company that has so much potential to grow.

For those interested, it’s called Agoo, I kind of like that it’s trendier and upscale cloths for kids. The designer worked in entertainment for years, so she understands trends. I’ve added their link to my side bar.

I know what you're all going to say, why Leo?? Would it not make more sense to cast somebody "Japanese", you know, since it takes place in "Japan". Gorden Levitt I could almost see, but Leo, i don't think so.

DAMN DIRTY GRAPES

As many of you know, Charlton Heston passed on april 5th. In all honesty, I'm not sure I agreed with his views, but I have to give him credit for having the guts to stand up for them.

As a tribute, enjoy this image...
